WVU's International Festival

Tuesday, March 28 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm

Rescheduled from last fall, the International Festival returned to WVU’s Mountainlair.  

The theme: Let’s Go Study Abroad!

Over 300 students in the 5th through 7th grades attended the festival in two sessions with entertainment for everyone between the sessions. This Dominion Post newsclip covering the event illustrates some of the activities.

The entertainment hour was opened by the Crazy Horse Singers, a  Native American Drum Ensemble who were visiting WVU for the presentation that evening by Standing Rock Sioux Tribal Chairman Dave Archambault II, sponsored by Native American Studies.  The entire audience joined them in a dance at the end of their performance.

WVU's Intensive English Program presented a fashion show, Jose Ramirez asked the children to listen to his flute music and let it conjure up pictures in their minds, and finally they were treated to a demonstration of salsa dancing and invited to join the performers on stage to join in the dance.
