In response to the concerns you have expressed, and a resulting re-consideration
of the financial impact, West Virginia University has decided to delay and/or change
the way the previously established International Student Fee will be handled.
- International graduate students on assistantships will not pay the fee. It will show up on your bills, but it will be considered part of the assistantship stipend and “waived” by the University. This change means the fee will have no impact on your stipend.
- International graduate students without assistantships will not pay the fee for the 2017-2018 academic year. There will be further discussions on the impact of the fee to decide whether it should be applied to graduate students.
- International undergraduate students will not pay the fee for the 2017 fall semester, but will be assessed the fee for the 2018 spring semester, providing more advanced notice.
Given the late implementation of the fee, Global Affairs and the Office of the Provost have decided to delay implementation to allow you more time to plan for the increase in cost.
If you have any questions about these changes, please do not hesitate to reach out to International Students and Scholars Services at email@example.com or 304-293-3519.
