Tuition Merit Award for Undergraduate International Students
Beginning in February 2008, the Office of International Students and Scholars invites undergraduate international students to apply and compete for the Tuition Merit Award for the academic year 2007-2008. The award covers the tuition for both Fall and Spring semesters.
Eligibility
Applicants (applications will be available in February 2008- at that time, there will be links on this page to the tuition merit award application and the form for reference letters reference for this Tuition Merit Award must satisfy the following requirements:
- Must be full-time, degree-seeking international student holding a non-immigrant visa.
- Will have earned a minimum of 30 credit hours at West Virginia University by May 2008 with a minimum grade point average of 3.0.
- Must intend to enroll at West Virginia University as a full-time continuing undergraduate student for the academic year 2008-2009.
- Must submit three references to the Office of International Students and Scholars by March 27, 2008.
- Must submit the application, together with a transcript (available at Admissions and Records), to the Office of International Students and Scholars by April 2, 2008.
- Must agree to be interviewed by the Selection Committee in April or May 2008 if chosen as one of the finalists.
A committee of university faculty, staff, and students will choose the award winners. The criteria for selection will be based upon scholastic achievements, extra-curricular activities, awards won since beginning student status in the United States, and financial needs of the applicant. Applicants will be responsible themselves for obtaining three reference letters. PLEASE NOTE THAT REFERENCE LETTERS ARE DUE MARCH 27, 2008, ONE WEEK BEFORE THE DEADLINE FOR THE APPLICATION. At least two of the three letters of reference should be written by faculty members at West Virginia University. This is a one-year, non renewable award and the winner will be notified no later than May 31, 2008.
