International Students and Scholars Services

In addition to organizing check-in and orientation for new WVU international students, we provide advising and assistance with:

Please be aware that the check-in and orientation process involves multiple mandatory steps including orientation, placement tests if applicable, and course registration. On average it takes 3-5 days to complete the process. Please make your plans accordingly. Your first stop on campus should be Purinton House Room 101 so that we can check you in, activate your SEVIS record as required by immigration regulations, and help you get started.

Check-in

International student check-in will be held in Purinton House  Monday through Friday, between 8.15 am and 4.45 pm.

Note: It is required that you complete check-in first, before attending orientation. Check-in is mandatory as it serves to validate your SEVIS record as well as registration for international orientation.

Orientation

International student orientation will be held August 8 through 11, 2017 between 7.30 a.m. – 6.30 pm. Undergraduate students with residence hall assignments are permitted to move in to their residence halls on August 6 and 7 between 8.005 am to 4.00 pm.

A tentative orientation schedule is available at http://oiss.wvu.edu/students/new-students/new-student-orientation in due course. We kindly request that you familiarize yourself with the orientation schedule, and plan other meetings around it.

Please note, there is no official orientation program in the summer semesters.

Intensive English Program (IEP) students students are not required to attend this orientation session. They will have alternate orientation dates communicated through the IEP.
