Instructions for Students Who Have Applied For or Have Been Granted OPT
IMPORTANT!!!!
Please remember that your obligation to strictly comply with the SEVIS rules DOES NOT STOP with the issuance of the OPT/ EAD card. In order for your SEVIS record to be kept updated and your visa status valid throughout the OPT period, you must pay special attention to the following requirements:
- 1. Provide our office with a legible copy of your EAD as soon as you have it
2. If you move to a new address during this period, it is important that you complete and forward a new AR- 11 (amended, which is available on our website) to our office. This action must be taken within 10 days of moving to the new address.
3. If you need to travel outside the U.S., you must verify that the most recent signature at the bottom of page 3 of your I-20 shows a VALID DATE. A valid signature date for this purpose is a date within six months of your intended date of return. Please contact our office well in case you need the signature re-validated.
4. If you change visa status, please fax a copy of your approval notice to our office.
5. If you leave the country to stay, please complete the Exit Form.
By following these simple rules, you will be able to continue to live and work in the US legally.
